Following the enactment of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024, the Garda Inspectorate was dissolved at midnight on 1st April 2025 and superseded by the new Policing and Community Safety Authority (PCSA).

The PCSA will consolidate and enhance the broad-ranging oversight functions of the Policing Authority and the expert inspection functions of the Garda Síochána Inspectorate into one body.
